Electrowetting on Dielectric (EWOD)

Experiments with electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) — moving liquid droplets with electric fields, and learning firsthand how much the dielectric layer limits performance.

I spent some time messing around with electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD). Though I was able to get some droplet movement, I was heavily limited by my dielectric. The best-performing option I had on hand was Saran wrap with a thin film of silicone oil — even so, it was still too thick and lacked the hydrophobicity needed for clean movement.
