ME Capstone

An IoT spice dispenser my capstone team designed and prototyped. I led the third and final design iteration — the swappable cartridges, their compliant attach/detach mechanism, the rotating upper stage, and most of the manufacturing.

For my undergraduate capstone project, my group conceived, designed, and built a functional prototype of an IoT spice dispenser. A recording of our final presentation is below; it covers our motivations, design process, and results. We've also included a video we played at the expo, which shows the device in operation.

Most of my work was on the third and final design iteration, for which I was primarily responsible. I designed the cartridges and the compliant mechanism for attaching and detaching them readily, and I modeled and built the assemblies for rotating the upper stage and engaging individual cartridges. I was also responsible for much of the product's aesthetic design, and I manufactured most of the parts.
